Finch Feeders

Finches are among the most familiar and most watched birds. They are delightful songbirds which also happen to be well-liked as pets…And just as popular among birdwatchers and pet bird owners are the finch feeders.

Among the variety of species in the finch family are siskins, goldfinches, Palla’s rosefinch, Cassin’s finch, house finches, buntings, cardinals and grosbeaks. They primarily eat seeds, and you may see all these wild birds at your finch feeders. These wild bird feeders come in two major types: in a plastic tube and in a mesh.

The plastic tube feeders have small feeding ports especially designed for thistle, also called as nyjer seeds. These suspended tubes are weather resistant, and it makes use of a dome-shaped cap that tightly fits to protect the seeds from moisture. This form of feeder  even comes in a fun and clever spiral design wherein its perches run in a spiral around the tube, making it unique but effective in keeping a lot of birds on your feeder rather than fleeing somewhere else to perch. Plastic tube finch feeders quite easy to use, clean and refill by  twisting its cap and bottom seed tray.

The mesh design appears to be more economical and convenient with its sock form. It is a soft durable nylon bag that finches can just cling onto, and it discourages other birds from seizing its three-pound seed-ful of contents. It allows maximum airflow to keep the thistle seeds fresh and dry all the time.

Some of these finch feeders are more heavy duty in size and capacity, and made of a powder coated metal mesh. The fine mesh screen holds the tiny seeds but still allows the birds to feed well, even up to 20 of them with its sturdy top and bottom supports. It is also seen in a cage-style variation to prevent spillage and protect the singing finches. It should be simply hung in your garden.

Serve dandelion seeds, canary seeds, flaxseeds, millet, nyjer or rapeseeds in your finch feeders if you want to invite these songbirds over to your backyards. You will attract not just one, but several of its species. But for goldfinches in particular, have asters, coneflower or sunflower seeds. Even when you intend to have finches as pets, you can simply hang these bird feeders inside their cage and they will love it. Keep feeding them with these bestselling user-friendly feeders and they will keep singing as you enjoy watching them.

We just love our Finch Feeders! :)
