There are tons of places to get your hands on different types of bird feeders. But if you’re a DIY type of person and would love nothing but to see those lovely birds tweeting and cheering up your backyard on a bird feeder built by your own hands then read on.

Bird feeders are surprisingly easy to make, especially the basic backyard bird rescue kind. Just gather up disposable pie pans, string, scissors, birdseeds, and a sharp implement as hole puncher and you’re already half way finished.

Here are the steps to making your own DIY Bird Feeder.

1. Cut the string to three equal-length pieces.
2. Punch 3 holes in the outer edges of the pie pans in a way that 4, 8 and 12 o’clock are positioned in a clock face.
3. One end of a string goes through a hole from the top to the bottom of the pan. Tie a knot securely on the bottom side.
4. Do the same thing with the other strings and holes, and tie the ends of the strings together at the top of the pan.
5. Fill it with birdseeds, hang from a high branch, and there you have your bird feeder!

Even kids can help you with this. Anyone up for a weekend workshop project? Enjoy the sights and sound of different birds on your very own bird feeder as you spend some quality relaxing time in your backyard. All it takes are a few simple materials, a bit of patience, and your love for birds to make it work.
